I've been meaning to read 'Oleander, Jacaranda' by Penelope Lively for ages, simply because I love the title and saying it out loud. And now I see jacaranda is as beautiful as it sounds. An onomatopoeic flower?
And I found out that the jacaranda is native to Brazil, although they grow well in Australia. All the books say they flower in Spring, and so they do in Queensland, but here in Melbourne they are at their best in December. I've noticed over the years that they flower in October in Queensland, in November in Sydney, and December in Melbourne, so presumably not until January down in Tasmania, if we are heading progressively south.
I adore their seedpods too. Like miniature stingrays.

How gorgeous. I love the curved brickwork.
The jacaranda were at the time my grandfather passed peacefully away. They will always remind me of that time..beautifully bittersweet.
Fantastic pictures! -Flourish

Yes, they're my shoes. (And trousers and skirt).
