... because this is just around the corner

I was feeling overwhelmed by unpacked boxes, dirt, a wild and weed-infested garden, an oven that doesn’t appear to work, financial stuff that must be dealt with before the city house is settled ... and a husband who is so tired and stressed that he has backed his car into first a tree and then a pole in the space of one week, and has had to return to work far too soon.

So I took the children and dog for a walk by the river this afternoon, to reconnect with why it is that we have turned our lives upside down and moved here.

It worked.

I came home rejuvenated and invigorated.

And unpacked two more boxes.

amazing! we made a big move to rural life 18 months ago. We don't regret moving, though it hasn't always been easy. best to you!

Can understand why you would feel rejuvenated. Is it part of the Yarra River - I didn't hear you laugh, did I? It looks just so lovely and relaxing in your photos.

Ha ha, Alice, yes it's part of the Yarra. So different to the city part of the Yarra.

I am sitting here with the noise of the road outside my window...

Youngest would have been IN that water in SECONDS!

I can see why it worked. What a lovely area!
Moves are so difficult. I hope you're able to settle in soon.

It looks wonderful so far. The pantry pictures will clinch it! (hint hint)
It looks like you have done well so far - I don't think I could get my computer up and running after only a week. If the boys do not have to change schools, the adjustment will not be too bad for them.

I totally want to be your neighbor (of course, "neighbor" being a couple of acres away).

Hi Suse,
Thanks for your good wishes over at Patra's Other Place. I know almost exactly where you are now - I have two home care clients in Nth Warrandyte, and I cross the river right there on my way to them. It is a lovely part of outer Melbourne, to be sure. Have you checked out the op-shop in the shops there? And what about Ratty & Moles? Much more expensive than the op shop, but what amazing treasures she has! I have spent more than a few dollars on some very nice linen treasures there..
