theft

I've just discovered, like many others in the blogosphere, that Bitacle has stolen my blog. To try and counteract this I've changed my feeds from full to short, so anyone reading my posts through Bitacle will have to click through to my real site to read the rest of the post. This will affect those of you who read me via Bloglines too I'm afraid. My apologies, but I don't know how else to deal with it apart from shutting down the whole blog.

Which I do.not.want.to.do.

Bastards.

Hi Suse - I've renamed a number of posts "STOLEN BY BITACLE" and they are now appearing that way on Bitacle's site. It seems to have also forced a change in the way at least some of my entries are listed so that they now come directly back to my blog rather than the monstered Bitacle version. However, the Bitacle aggregates version of my blog is still up there - but at least it is full of posts titled "Stolen By Bitacle"!! I'm doing updates on my blog...

It sounds horrid but I don't understand. What does this mean? Should I know about this?

Hi Suse,
I've been reading up on the bitacle thing for about two weeks now, and I can tell that there are plenty enough ways and resources on the web to help you combat this kind of thing.
Specifically with bitacle, you can head on to stopbitacle dot wordpress dot com.
A bit of good news: a blogger already made a complaint to Google about this and it seems to be working. Read more about it at PlagiarismToday dot com.
This doesn't mean that bitacle is out of business or that others can't scrape your content anymore, but it might help you fight back ;)
Good luck

I have to confess ignorance on this one, too...how did you find out that your blog was being stolen??

OK, this may relate to my current adoption of resigned apathy to such things. Along with:
- changed media laws that will see the end of the grain of diversity we had in Australia
- a government intent on imbedding it's conservative, racist, misogynistic, head-in-the-sand, arroganct philosophy wherever it can - education, health, immigration, defense, education
- a government ensuring we are an international embarrassment when it comes to the environment.
...and so on and so forth.

Amalah had this happen to her a few weeks back, but it was one person skyving her words, changing names but claiming it as their own. This I have a problem with.

Some stupid site trying to a make a few measly bucks by copying my blog and putting ads at the top just doesn't light my wick. So to speak.

See, even I'm outraged at my nonchalance.

I change my feed to short form for the same reason. So far it seems to be working.
