wildlife encounters for the week

Tuesday: a koala ambling slowly across the road, being divebombed by agitated magpies

Thursday: a cat and currawong stand-off, over the bowl of dry cat food (the currawong won)

Friday: a scary, hairy bear of an angry man in a red ute on the Ring Road this morning

Jealous! Of the koala that is, you can keep your road-rager. I've never seen a koala in the wild, and I'd really like to. I'm always scouring the trees when we drive through a "koala zone".

But I have just experienced my first ever Melbourne magpie swoop (Melbourne maggies are wimps compared to the Canberra ones!). Luckily it was swooping my 5YO, not me...

...because he had his bike helmet on.

What -???the Koala was being disemboweled?? did everyone misread your blog??? How sad, the poor things are struggling with shrinking habitat already!

As to creepy hairy neanderthals- there are plenty of the A*&#%les arround!

Um...is a currawong some kind of bird?

snap hulai. the coolest wildlife i've seen in my area is a fox in a hospital carpark, and the loonies who argue outside my flat at 2am of a friday night.

Koalas! I think my favorite photo on your blog has to be the koala photo your son took. Absolutely gorgeous.

I'm not even going to mention any boxes. It should arrive within the next millenium.

I was a victim of road rage this week. It was terrifying (young angry bear of a man here too).

The koala was being swooped, not disemboweled!

Yes a currawong is a bird (big black and sings beautifully).
