There are hot cross buns at one particular supermarket all year because they came up with their own brand. However, I feel this is not right at all and boycott them until Late March. Can't people wait for anything anymore?
I can remember when I worked for Coles a few years ago we were told that the customers EXPECTED (I would like to see that!!) H/cross buns after Christmas... A bit of a retail fabrication me thinks..
I thought 15 comments - this topic has hit a chord until I saw Stomper had taken over the comments box! Just kidding Stomper - I just visited you and everything looks OK.
Anyway Suse, I saw the hot cross buns on Tuesday at Woolworths and it stopped me in my tracks. I thought I had entered some parallel universe and missed 3 months of my life. This consumerist crap is getting on my nerves. I am trying to keep my visits to the mall/supermarkets to a bare minimum.
PS: I have been wanting to thank you for your kind comment about my cushions. I am new at this blogging business and didn't have an email address to respond to. Then the penny dropped!
our supermarket put its easter candy aisle up last week. your post was a relief to me though as I thought Americans had cornered the market on holiday overanticipation.
Sadly, here in the UK you can buy hot cross buns any day of the year. A couple of years ago I was in a department store a couple of days afer Christmas and saw an assistant putting out valentines cards!
My local woolies was trying to flog green freddo frogs (with internal smarties) as "christmas chocolates". yeah, right. because we're really THAT stupid

I can go one better (or worse) - we saw Cadbury Creme Eggs in Woolworths BEFORE Christmas.
Surely not. Surely they were just ordinary currant buns with unfortunate tan lines.
I can't cope with even the thought of Valentine's Day (and more chocolate. Ooph.) nevermind Easter!
view it as karma for your intimidating book review post.
I beat you, I saw them in Woolies on Tuesday
I swear I saw what looked like a display of Easter eggs in Boots yesterday.

Ha! I have seen people with their Christmas lights up, fully 11 1/2 months ahead of schedule.

No way! Even if it's an early Easter this year, that is just ridiculous. Surely they shoukld be doing chocs for Valentines first up?
Although ... really LOVE hot cross buns ... may just nip out to Coles for a minute.
Hey, SG, why is your blog blank? Did you change your template to something in the "Polar Bear Eating Marshmallows During A Blizzard" vein?

I dunno. I just went there and found it gone...*don't panic, don't panic*. Must be something to do with old vs new? Off to investigate
GOM came home angry on Tues. He had seen the Hot Cross buns too! He thinks it is some plot to send us all crazy!
I too, have noticed Stomper Girl is in whiteout mode??
This is bad. Just tried republishing and nothing happened .. *mustn't panic, mustn't panic*
May have to move over here to Suse's for a while.
It's okay Suse, it's back, I'll leave you alone now. Lucky I didn't panic.
i'm not certain what coles is, or hot cross buns.
but anything with the word "hot" and "buns" has to be good, right?
