They look lovely, but I wouldn't count. I once did a granny square. One. Just one really big one. I was a tween and I am sure my parents started me on it to keep me quiet on long car trips. It's only now that I think about it that I realise it was just one so mum didn't have to help me on every corner every five minutes. It takes an eight-year-old a long time to crochet a metre.

Like the previous commenter the last time I crocheted a granny square I was about 10 and whiling away time on the long bus trip to school. As the newly proud owner of a 1976 copy of The Complete Book of Knitting Crochet and Emroidery I'll have to look them up...

My mum made Climber a bassinet blankie from granny squares in bright pinks and turquoises with black borders and everyone said "a baby blanket with black, are you sure, doesn't seem right etc" but it is GORGEOUS! Pics here, if you want.

I love them. They are very pingy indeed.
I had a tank top made out of one of those when i were small.

It was purple and I wore a skivvy beneath it. Ah, memories.

I've been craving a black yarn element for awhile. It's great, makes it look like stained glass.

Lovely. I still have the single bed sized granny square blanket (all edged in black), that my Great gran and Gran made for me when I was 14....so keep going!
