Bonnet. I think bonnet is one of the loveliest of words. Sort of bonny and wee all rolled into one. Bonnet.

I'm a tight knitter and I launched right into knitting this with no swatch or upsizing of needles so it doesn't actually fit me. (Thankfully, said the ever critical offspring).

It fits the 12 year old son rather well but I'm having a hard time convincing him of the merits of a supersoft chocolate bonnet, complete with little chin ties.
The pattern is Jejeune's rather adorable Pauline, available for free on Ravelry if you have a hankering for a wee bonnet of your own.
Mine is Ravelled here.

Divine! I so have a hankering for a bonnet of my own...after I knit five more of the seven rings.
i can't imagine why he isn't thrilled by the prospect of setting a new fashion trend for young men.
Bonnets for 12 year olds. Could catch on. I never knit tension squares and that's a mistake. So will you knit another one for you?
Yep :)
I laughed like a drain at the very idea of a 12-year old in a knitted bonnet!
I hope you'll model yours for us when it's done?
That is a beautiful knitted object. I can't say I can blame your son for not wanting to wear it, but the future recipient is very lucky.
I looked at this and before I realised it was originally destined for your head I thought 'I wish adults could wear these, they're ace.' I look forward to seeing your full sized one. Very much.
just lovely, can't wait to see it on!
Sweet though your bonnet may be, I just don't think I'm the bonnet type.
but I love the little leaves on the side.
But, now, if it did fit you, where would you wear it? Perhaps at Sewjourn? The ladies would certainly understand. Maybe it should be required headwear for craft camp??? It's definitely very pretty!
The depth of color is gorgeous. Lovely work!
best, nadia
I can't think why he didn't leap at it . So cosy for going to the footie in .
I am reading 'Cranford' at the moment. Bonnets and caps and aprons galore! Also calashes, fichus and panniers. Ah, the eighteenth century. Thank God it's gone.
Sooo cute. My head is the size of your average 12-year-old. Just sayin'
Jen so is mine! But sadly it still doesn't fit. Also, I posted it off to a little girl aged well under 12, just yesterday.
Also Jen, do you recognise the yarn? It was from you :)
Wee and bonny. I like it! Bonnets... So hot right now.
