I hope your Christmas was joyous (joyful?), and that 2012 brings you excellent things.

We went north as usual to the mothership where the weather was wild and the beaches were closed due to cyclones and such. Came home to a house that had flooded on Christmas Day and then been shut up in a week of 40 degree heat. I'll pause there and let you recover from the smell you may be imagining right now. Yes, that's the one.
Collected the beasts from the cathouse and doggerel and they have been loving and sleepy respectively, ever since. Should send them away more often.
Today the boys did their annual Swapping of the Bedrooms and now the boot of my car is chock full of bags of stuff to go to the op shop. In other news, for Christmas the mister and I bought each other half a vacuum cleaner which was a necessity, and half an ice cream maker each which was a luxury. I am now stuffed full of the best strawberry ice cream I have ever tasted and our rugs are clean. We are happy. Plans are being made. It will be a
My resolutions for 2012? More knitting. More breathing.
What're yours?

Happy New Year! My resolutions are pretty similar to yours. Walk more. Weave with sticks. Bake.
My plans? Stop frowning.
Happy new year, Suse.
No resolutions for me. I already have something new on the sticks, though.
No resolutions for me...just a word. Nourish. A scarey year...do you have a son heading off to university?? We have 2years left. Helen keeps saying she wants to go to a Waldorf school in Australia for a semester next year. I can't imagine it. We meet with guidance on Monday....not sure I am ready for her to go away for a semester anywhere.
I always get confused on the joyful/joyous thing, too.
So sorry about your stench, but glad about the ice cream. Papa S and I got each other half of a Toddy cold-brew coffee-making system, as well as new sweepa rubber brooms. And man, is that ever good coffee (floors are looking better, too).
I resolve to get rid of the migraines, whatever it takes. And to visit Old Blighty finally. Care to rendez-vous???
Love that top photo.
am grimacing as i think of your poor flooded house.
am so glad to see all those flickrs.
breathe whilst knitting is what I need to learn to do. and not hunch my shoulders up so that I get horrendously stiff..........
So sorry about your flooding, and I hope the smell has gone completely away by now. My resolutions for 2012 include staying calm and confident. (And to do my back exercises more faithfully.) Perhaps I should add "remember to breathe"?
More knitting and more breathing ... sounds good to me, both are essential to life ;D
Good luck with the scary year x
That top pic? Marvellous. Geez kids grow tall in your house.
The smell? I went halfway to imagining. Then remembered I have a very vivid imagination and wisely stopped.
Year 12 student and tertiary decisions year? Me too sister. I think we'll need to meet up once or twice for coffee and op-shopping and breathe together xx
Happy New Year! Sorry to read about the stench. Eeeeew!
I love how you bought each other half a vacuum cleaner and half an ice cream maker.
No resolutions for me. Just vague plans and somewhat less vague imperatives.
You're back! Happy New Year! Don't be scared, it will all be okay. We're all here for you, you know...
Also, word verification today is TEDDLY. Doesn't that make you feel better? All sort of cute and cuddly?
Love that beautiful beach picture. But not that moldy smell so much. We had the same fun -- in 1998. Went to Europe for three weeks in the middle of the summer and returned to water in the basement. Pee-eew!!! Happy New Year!
We were going to buy half an icecream maker each but settled for half a vacuum cleaner in the post-Christmas sales. Good service at the electricals shop in Warrnambool, fyi, if you want to combine summer holidaying with electricals shopping in the future. It's a good way to help one's child appreciate how good the rest of the day has been.
Sorry about the flooding & stench, there's been a bit of it about. I'm glad you managed a boot full of stuff for the op shop rather than a trailer load for the tip.
sorry about your flood/mould issues, a pain to come home to. i don't do resolutions, but i am in the market for a vacum cleaner and possibly an ice-cream maker. what sorts did you get? happy new year, jx
What a ghastly Welcome Home present !
Home made ice cream in sufficient quantities should effect a cure eventually , though , and Strawberry sounds an excellent introduction . Smitonius makes a tomato sorbet that I occasionally dream about ....
word verification , this time , is "knedep" .... it wasn't knee deep, was it ?
happiness is a car full of bags destined for the op shop.....Happy New Year, Suse.
I would be so happy if I could walk on that beach and add my reflection to the sand.
Wow the picture of the pink flowers is a beaut!
"Swapping of the bedrooms" cracked me up. What a great tradition!!
Oh noooo the stench, I had a traumatic flashback to my own Fridge Disaster of 2011. I would recover with deep breaths but... no.
I had a flashback to the dead bird shut up in 40 degree heat for 3 days incident at our house. Also, your males are all starting to look much the same height. Blimey.
PS Happy New Year to you all xx
happy new year, suse! love that boganvillea (sp?) shot.
more breathing...i like that.
me? less time on the web, more time making things.
Swim and swim again. Melt away the last 5 kilos (wish me luck!)
All good wishes to you Sooup Lady.
My boys are in the middle of swapping rooms too. The one doing year 12 this year gets the biggest room. The upstairs landing is completely covered in stuff that no-one is claiming. If it's not gone by tonight I shall bundle it all up for the op shop too.
Sorry about the flood-yuk! Nice shot at the beach.
Belated Happy New Year, Mrs Suse. Many blessings on your household.
